Rainbow Baby Pineapple

The Rainbow Baby Pineapple is one of my favorite designs that I’ve made!
He’s so cute, and colorful, and fun to cuddle.

Here’s what you need to make one of your own!

Yarn:
Patons Astra DK yarn (50 g/161 yds): 1 skein Medium Grey (A) Lion Brand Landscapes worsted weight yarn (3.5 oz/147 yds): 1 skein #201 Boardwalk (B)

Materials
US Size G/6 (4.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker, polyester stuffing, 6mm black safety eyes (2)

Finished Measurements
10” x 6”

Gauge
5 sc and 6 rows = 1”

Notes
1. Body is worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark 1st st of each round.
2. Pineapple Leaves are worked in rows. Beginning ch counts as 1st st.
3. Pineapple Leaves are worked from the top leaf down and then sewn to the Body.

Body
With B, make magic ring.
Round 1: 6 sc in ring—6 sc.
Round 2: 2 sc in each st around—12 sc.
Round 3: *2 sc in next, sc in next; repeat from * around—18 sc.
Round 4: *2 sc in next, sc in next 2; repeat from * around—24 sc.
Round 5: *2 sc in next, sc in next 3; repeat from * around—30 sc.
Round 6: *2 sc in next, sc in next 4; repeat from * around—36 sc.
Round 7: *2 sc in next, sc in next 5; repeat from * around—42 sc.
Round 8: *2 sc in next, sc in next 6; repeat from * around—48 sc.
Round 9: *2 sc in next, sc in next 7; repeat from * around—54 sc.
Round 10: *2 sc in next, sc in next 8; repeat from * around—60 sc.
Rounds 11–13: With A, sc in each st around.
Round 14: *With A, sc in next, with B, sc in next 4; repeat from * around—60 sc.
Round 15: *With A, sc in next 2, with B, sc in next 3; repeat from * around—60 sc.
Round 16: *With A, sc in next 3, with B, sc in next 2; repeat from * around—60 sc.
Round 17: *With A, sc in next 4, with B, sc in next; repeat from * around—60 sc.
Rounds 18–20: With A, sc in each st around.
Round 21: *With B, sc in next 8, sc2tog; repeat from * around—54 sc.
Round 22: *Sc in next 7, sc2tog; repeat from * around—48 sc.
Round 23: *Sc in next 6, sc2tog; repeat from * around—42sc.
Round 24: *Sc in next 5, sc2tog; repeat from * around—36 sc.
Round 25: *Sc in next 4, sc2tog; repeat from * around—30 sc.
Round 26: *Sc in next 3, sc2tog; repeat from * around—24 sc.

Pineapple Leaves (make 3)
*Note: Leaves are worked with RS facing throughout.
With B, ch 5.
Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook (set-up for 1st crocodile st), rotate to work into side of st, ch 1, 5 dc around post of dc, ch 1, rotate work, 5 dc around beginning ch-5—10 dc (1st crocodile st).

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in center space of crocodile st, 2 dc in next dc (set-up for
2 crocodile sts), rotate work, ch 1, 5 dc around post of last dc, ch 1, rotate work, 5 dc around
post of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, rotate work, 5 dc around
beginning ch-3—20 dc (2 crocodile sts).

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in middle of
next crocodile st, 2 dc between next 2 crocodile sts, 2 dc in middle of next crocodile st, 2 dc in next dc (set-up for 3 crocodile sts), rotate work, ch 1, 5 dc around post of last dc, ch 1, 5 dc around post of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, 5 dc around post
of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, 5 dc around beginning ch-3—30
dc (3 crocodile sts).

Row 4: Sl st to middle of next crocodile st, ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc between next 2 crocodile
sts, 2 dc in middle of next crocodile st, 2 dc between next 2 crocodile sts, 2 dc in middle of
next crocodile st (set-up for 3 crocodile sts), rotate work, ch 1, 5 dc around post of last dc,
ch 1, 5 dc around post of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, 5 dc
around post of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, 5 dc around
beginning ch-3—30 dc (3 crocodile sts).

Row 5: Repeat Row 4.

Row 6: Sl st to space between next 2 crocodile sts, ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in middle of
next crocodile st, 2 dc between next 2 crocodile sts (set-up for 2 crocodile sts), rotate work, ch 1, 5 dc around post of last dc, ch 1, 5 dc around post of next dc, skip next 2 dc, 5 dc around post of next dc, ch 1, 5 dc around beginning ch-3—10 dc (2 crocodile sts).

Row 7: Sl st to center of 1st crocodile st, ch 3, dc in same space, 2 dc in between next 2
crocodile sts, 2 dc in middle of next crocodile st (setup for 2 crocodile sts), rotate work, ch 1, 5 dc around post of last dc, ch 1, 5 dc around post of next dc, skip 2 dc, 5 dc around post of
next dc, ch 1, 5 dc around beginning ch-3—10 dc ( 2 crocodile sts).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing
Sew Leaves to top of Pineapple, with RS facing out. Row 7 is the bottom, Row 1 is the top leaf. Sew the top crocodile st of each of the 3 pieces together, RS facing out. Weave in ends.
